photos

hi everyone -
all i know about the photos from the event is that my dad is super particular about the way photos look. so he is touching them up, making sure the contrast is right, and all that other photo type stuff, before he puts them on the web. he's a super busy guy (meetings all the time, aside from work!) but i know he is working on them (i saw the files open on the computer the other night).

i'll be sure to speak with him tonight to find out the status. ok maybe not tonight as i'm flying back to california and won't be getting in till well past midnight...but...i will talk to him :)

here's a teaser photo.

Reunion Success!

well, we did it!

i just wanted to thank everyone so much for coming to the reunion! for anyone who didn't come, i think you really missed out.

at first i was apprehensive because i wasn't sure people were going to show up. then i was worried that there wouldn't be enough food. then i thought people would come but would hold onto high school grudges and no one would talk to each other. as it turned out, we had a splendid turnout of 70 people, and people all seemed to have a good time interacting with each other!

i had a great time seeing everyone for the first time in 10 years, and i think things went off pretty much without a hitch. of course we still have tons of leftovers but at least no one went hungry.

thank you all again for making the night a success!

remember the photos will be posted on mytownhall.info later this week!

oh yeah also wanted to mention that i saw melissa savalonis at the football game on thursday (like every year! it's our tradition) and had a very fun night out bowling on friday night at bradley bowl. michelle (mlynick) peacock, her friend michelle, zack pozzi, and even chris bugaj made an appearance with his girlfriend kim. while we were there it became "GALACTIC BOWL" time, and the lights went out and black lights and disco balls and fun dance music started. great evening!

thanks to my mom and grandma for checking everyone in, and my dad for getting in everyone's face and taking the photos! i also want to thank susan's parents for letting us borrow their truck to deliver the iparty balloons and for watching madelyn for sue and dave.

'casual' dress

susan and i decided the reunion should be casual, because she really wanted to wear jeans. i probably won't be wearing jeans (namely because i don't have any that fit right now!) i think you should wear whatever you're most comfortable in. that's what we're going for. don't buy anything new just for the occasion unless you REALLY want to!

local businesses unite

anyone out there run a local business? we are looking for donations from our raffle and i think susan mentioned to me that emily romano bull donated something from her store in somers, which we are very excited about!

if anyone else has something they would like to donate to a raffle for the reunion evening, please contact sue demers or kristen falk (fermi95class@yahoo.com) so we can get something started.

thanks in advance for your help!

please commit now!

hi everyone,

just a friendly reminder: the deadline for sending in your payment for the reunion was today, november 1st, but we're willing to take payments all the way up to november 10th. however, DO NOT WAIT! if you are coming, PLEASE send in your check. this may come as a shock to people, but we can't have this reunion if we don't have 50 people attending. i don't want to cancel this event, and as things are going we may not be having a dj. i know no one wants to commit money at this time, and it's hard to scrape together cash, but if you really want to come and are planning on coming, please email kristen at fermi95class@yahoo.com or call susan demers at 860 749 5453. don't wait another day!

thanks!

idea area

so far all we know is that we're having it at pleasant view, which is in somers somewhere. i'm sure there's a few small quaint places to stay if people feel like they'll be too drunk to drive home or whatever. i will look into that whole situation.

i'm willing to hear anyones new ideas about what we could/should do. here's a working list of things i've come up with:

pizza / snack food
beer
games / pool / board games / cards
class video
photo board / old fermi apparel area
trivia games
soundtrack to our school days - any suggestions?
guest book signing
(photo) memory book
mingling and chatting

leave your comment and get added to this list!

ok ok

alright everyone.

to clarify a few things.

1. here's who's on the committee and their main roles:

kristen falk - major decisions being made, printing cards and invites, spending money, decorations, website, newspaper ads, emailing people, generally stressing out

susan demers - phone calls, monetary things, finding raffle prizes, booking the dj and hall, and keeping kristen sane

melissa savalonis - helping find lost classmates addresses, general idea input on what's happening, other support roles

christina abronze - general "things" (like finding the venue) and helping susan other stuff

so if you hear from these people, it's probably safe to assume it's about the reunion.

2. everyone is welcome to come to the reunion. bring friends or people from other years. in fact, EHS people can come too since they aren't having one. contact us at fermi95class@yahoo.com for more info!

3. food at the reunion includes salad, snacks, and home baked desserts. as well as pizza.

4. just to completely clarify the situation, the cost of the ticket is not *only* for the cost of the food.

5. i know a lot of people hated high school. but this is not high school! maybe you even hated everyone in high school. you aren't required to come to this, you should only come if you want to see what people are doing. who knows, maybe they've changed. i would like to think i have. and i would like to see what people have decided to do with their lives. i think we are probably some of the most interesting people we'll ever meet.

i appreciate everyone's comments on the website, but i'm trying to keep things positive. i've spoken to many people from other walks of life and have discovered that reunions are not for everyone. people have also told me $35 is cheap for a reunion, so i'm really not sure what to say.

but i'm through defending myself. come if you want, don't if you don't. it's gonna be fun so maybe we could stop hating each other and just make it a party!

dear everyone...

the reunion committee - pretty much 3 people - are trying to put together a fun night for everyone. we are trying to keep things simple for ourselves while making them still fun. we considered going with a reunion planner. they would have had it a la notte, which is nice, but they would have charged $60 PER PERSON. we thought that $30-35 was reasonable because it helps us pay off the costs we are going to incur - 2 mailings, phone calls, venue, decorations, dinner/desserts/plates/cutlery, and dj - while still being feasible. the venue basically comes with a cash bar. we thought about making it byob but then thought it might get out of control (which might happen anyway!) but that's besides the point.

hopefully you'll still come, even if pizza for $35 seems like a lot. it will be a full evening of good times! find some long lost friend, pool up your cash, and come together...get the cheaper price!

trust me, there's very little in the line of profits. if there is $5 left after all is said and done it will be a miracle. i'll invest it and put it to use towards our 20 year reunion, unless someone REALLY wants to plan a 15 year. we'll see how this goes.

i have never planned something like this before so if you have any real suggestions, i'm open to hear them! thanks for reading.
