it is really, really hard to fathom that 20 years has gone by since we graduated from high school. well, not yet anyway, but in a few years. even though it feels like awhile since we all last saw each other - some came to the 5 year reunion, some came to the 10 year reunion, few came to the 15 year reunion/picnic - i am excited about this 20 year reunion for many reasons.
first, i think it will be awesome to see where people are in their lives. especially those who i haven't seen since high school. what are people up to? most people seem to have built loving families, but others have taken different routes. some live in enfield or nearby, others have moved very far away (including myself).
second, growing up is kind of a big deal. we all now know what it's like to live outside the confines of high school, of our parents supervision, of someone else to take care of us. that responsibility is all on us at this point, and i'd like to believe we've all turned out to be fairly well adjusted people who have survived long enough to be reading this post. so we must be doing something right!
lastly, i don't want to sound morbid but life is so short and so precious. since it's thanksgiving today, i'm thinking about all the people that have come and gone. it sometimes feels like a miracle that so many of us are still around today. and i'm thankful for that. if we can get past our ill feelings about how high school sucked or how things didn't work out for us then, we can really get into the "how did we make it this far?" question and maybe, just maybe, we'll learn a little something about each other. i know i had some hard times in high school, and i thought i was over it at the 10 year reunion but there were a few things i just hadn't let go. this time, i'm ready, and maybe you are too, to say, "hey, let's let bygones be bygones," forgive the people of our past - because, let's face it, high school sort of feels like something we had to survive. not everyone was in a good place and sometimes people were mean, sometimes people were downright cruel. sometimes people were going through serious hardships in their personal lives and took it out on others because it was too hard to deal. but maybe at this stage in the game, they've realized their mistakes / missteps and want to forget about them too.
anyway, if people have ideas about what they'd like to do for the 20 year reunion, i'm all ears. i know several people have told me they want something fancier, like at la renaissance or some other event hall. with that kind of event comes a cost, and i know many people aren't up for paying much to go to a reunion. so shrae your thoughts with me, if you wish.

hope to hear from someone...otherwise, i'll have to email this out to everyone. which reminds me, i should probably get on updating the email and mailing address lists. lots to do! good thing i've got another year before i have to really start doing the planning.
peace everyone,

gearing up for 2010
hey to anyone who actually reads this. this is kristen falk, getting ready for the fermi high school class of 1995 15 year class reunion.
since the last one went well, i think i'm up for doing this again. however, i won't have my trusty sidekick susan (driscoll) demers by my side, and since i live out of town, i can't commit to doing anything too big or extravagant.
so what i'm hoping to do, is to get people together in a very casual, low cost, family sort of get together. this time it will be during the summer, at a park or someplace where we can cook out, talk, and have the children meet each other and play together. hopefully around july 4th weekend so i can make one trip back.
anyone interested in helping out with this venture should contact myself or melissa savilonis at fermi95class@yahoo.com
looking forward to seeing you all in a year and a half...or sooner!

photos
hi everyone -
all i know about the photos from the event is that my dad is super particular about the way photos look. so he is touching them up, making sure the contrast is right, and all that other photo type stuff, before he puts them on the web. he's a super busy guy (meetings all the time, aside from work!) but i know he is working on them (i saw the files open on the computer the other night).
i'll be sure to speak with him tonight to find out the status. ok maybe not tonight as i'm flying back to california and won't be getting in till well past midnight...but...i will talk to him :)

Reunion Success!
well, we did it!
i just wanted to thank everyone so much for coming to the reunion! for anyone who didn't come, i think you really missed out.
at first i was apprehensive because i wasn't sure people were going to show up. then i was worried that there wouldn't be enough food. then i thought people would come but would hold onto high school grudges and no one would talk to each other. as it turned out, we had a splendid turnout of 70 people, and people all seemed to have a good time interacting with each other!
i had a great time seeing everyone for the first time in 10 years, and i think things went off pretty much without a hitch. of course we still have tons of leftovers but at least no one went hungry.
thank you all again for making the night a success!
remember the photos will be posted on mytownhall.info later this week!
oh yeah also wanted to mention that i saw melissa savalonis at the football game on thursday (like every year! it's our tradition) and had a very fun night out bowling on friday night at bradley bowl. michelle (mlynick) peacock, her friend michelle, zack pozzi, and even chris bugaj made an appearance with his girlfriend kim. while we were there it became "GALACTIC BOWL" time, and the lights went out and black lights and disco balls and fun dance music started. great evening!
thanks to my mom and grandma for checking everyone in, and my dad for getting in everyone's face and taking the photos! i also want to thank susan's parents for letting us borrow their truck to deliver the iparty balloons and for watching madelyn for sue and dave.
